MOTO X: Touted as first smartphone that is purely american made or is it?

The Moto X is Motorola’s first phone designed from the start under its new owner, Google Inc. The Internet search company bought Motorola Mobility for $12.4 billion last year. Google is heavily marketing its new flagship Moto X smartphone as being made-in-the-USA, but that label mainly applies to what's on the surface. The Moto X is the first smartphone to carry the “Made in the U.S.A.” designation. Labor costs are higher in the U.S. compared with Asian factories, where phones are typically made. But IHS said the Moto X is about 5 percent cheaper to make than Samsung Electronic Co.’s flagship Galaxy S4 phone. The firm said the Moto X’s overall production cost is just 9 percent more than that of Apple’s iPhone 5.
The findings come as little surprise, as the labor cost of a phone is just a small part of its production cost. IHS estimates that labor and other assembly costs Motorola $12 per phone for the Moto X, bringing the production cost to $226. That compares with $207 for the iPhone 5 and $237 for the Galaxy S4. IHS said Motorola is able to keep the cost of parts low by using standard components that don’t break much new ground.
Motorola’s new Moto X phone doesn’t cost more to make simply because it’s assembled in Texas, research firm IHS said.
A look inside the Moto X, which went on sale last month in North America, shows that nearly all of its parts were built in Asia or Europe. Market researcher IHS published a list of the phone's components last week based on a teardown of the hardware.
"If people are somehow thinking that 'made in America' is American top to bottom, they don't understand the electronics supply chain," IHS analyst Andrew Rassweiler said in an interview. "You've got three flags planted, possibly, in even one piece of silicon."
For decades, hardware makers have moved production to countries where labor costs are lower, primarily in Asia. The chip industry followed when governments and conglomerates in Japan, Taiwan and South Korea invested heavily to create chipmakers. The industry trend is overwhelmingly toward geographic dispersion and interdependence.
President Barack Obama has been calling for electronics companies to relocate manufacturing in the US, and Apple, Google and Lenovo Group have committed to assemble some products there. Motorola proudly calls the Moto X "the first smartphone ever to be designed and assembled in the U.S.A." The device is put together at a factory in Forth Worth, Texas , which will employ about 2,000 people, according to the company.
That's 2,000 jobs that America wouldn't have had otherwise, but it's tiny compared to the 1.3 million or so employees who work at Hon Hai Precision Industry, part of the Foxconn Technology Group. Assembly accounts for just 5% of the total cost of building each Moto X unit, according to IHS. At $12 a device, U.S. assembly is slightly more expensive than doing it in Asia, but components still represent the vast majority of the $226 price of making each phone.
“With the Moto X, Motorola is reaping the public-relations and customization upsides of producing a smartphone in the United States, while maintaining competitive hardware costs,” said Andrew Rassweiler, senior director for cost benchmarking services at IHS.
IHS said the estimated $12 for assembly is about $3.50 to $4 more than other leading phones.
“Our initial estimate suggests the additional costs of onshoring the Moto X are relatively low,” IHS said.
Assembling in the U.S. has advantages beyond making Motorola seem patriotic. It helps the Google subsidiary to more quickly ship made-to-order hardware to AT&T customers who personalize their Moto X phones with colored plastic or wooden backs, said Mark Randall, the company's senior vice president of supply chain and operations.
"We're proud that Moto X is designed, engineered and assembled in the USA, but our decision to assemble here was also rooted in providing the best possible experience for consumers," Randall wrote in an emailed statement. "Assembling in the USA enables consumers in the USA to design their customized Moto X smartphones online and receive them in just a few days."
The phone went on stores with a quite low price and has been seen dropping fast of it's original price. Now the question is will moto X the first "american made" smartphone will go flying high or will die?

Ok enough of that trying to be funny stuff but really not working and let's go to the real deal.Follow this simple walk-through and you will be enjoying an unlock lumia 710 in no time.

First? Check your phone if you got an unlock bootloader or was it lock? This is critical coz this method of unlocking will not be possible and will not get any success result if your bootloader is lock.

But how to check? Click on my post in HERE on how to check if you got a lock or unlock bootloader, and IF your phone got a lock bootloader then YOU have to follow the procedure on the same post to get the bootloader unlock then come back here for the rest of the procedure, this time on sim unlocking.

So here we go, assuming that you already got a phone that was bootloader unlock.

Tool that you need:
NSSpro - By now I am hoping that you already know this program made possible by one of the important man in GSM world (bphreaks)

*Launch NSSpro (NssPro_0.54 - Latest)
*Under Simlocks click WP7 (see attached image)
*Put your phone into OSBL mode: Turn off the phone then press vol up (+) plug-in the USB but keep pressing the vol up button until the phone vibrates then release it.
Simply Click unlock and wait for the process to finish, it won't take long 2 minutes maximum.

If you keep getting an error like this:

Looking for NAND disk...Done.
Trying to p**** partition tables...Done.
----------------------------------------------------
FAT16 absolute address: 0x001F4200
FAT16 partition size: 0x0927C000
----------------------------------------------------
Reading FAT16 raw...Error!

Just go to SETTINGS right next to WP7 and tick  Lumia unlock - alternative search for old pc and try again.

Note From www.everymac.com
As the above makes clear, two of the models -- both distributed in the US -- are the difficult ones to identify as they both share the same A1532 model number. As a result, if the iPhone will boot, the most convenient way to conclusively identify a specific A1532 iPhone 5c model is with the Order Number -- which Apple refers to as the "Model" within the iOS -- or the last four characters of its Serial Number listed in software.
To find the "Model" and Serial Number, click the "Settings" icon on the homescreen and select General > About and then scroll until "Model" or "Serial Number is visible. If the A1532 iPhone 5c will not boot, the only option is to refer to the serial number listed within the Nano SIM carrier. The "Model" identifier looks like ME505LL, which specifically refers to the GSM version of the A1532 iPhone 5c in white with 16 GB of storage and locked to AT&T.

Guide on how to enter into recovery on android powered Samsung phones

There's a lot of guide scattered on the net on how to enter into recovery but most often it's incorrect because it really depends on Samsung models and their variant sometimes. So I compiled some or if not all of the known guides and here they are:

1. This is the most common and works on most Samsung android phones. With the phone turn off: Press vol up (+), the home (middle key) then power it on, release the power key after 5 seconds but keep pressing the volume down plus the middle key until the phone enters to recovery.

2. If the above instruction doesn't work, here's another one, this works especially on Samsung i9001 (galaxy plus), GT-5830i (ace), GT-5660v (gio) and some other models and their variants according to my experience; With the phone turn off: Press home button (middle key) then power it on, release the power key after 5 seconds but keep pressing the home button (middle key) until the phone enters to recovery.

3. Here's another trick if the 2 instructions above fails. I mostly encounter this on i9001  (galaxy plus) but maybe it could work on other models too. With the phone turn off: Press the vol up (+) then power it on, release the power key after 5 seconds but keep pressing the vol up key until it enters recovery.

Tip:
I often encounter on Samsung i9001 (plus) that it would enter recovery by doing the instruction 2 or 3 above but it would get stuck on the android logo. So you have to tap the menu key on the bottom left of the phone then press the power key again to kick it into recovery or else if you fail to do so the phone will gonna restart and you have to do the whole process again.

Using a small but powerful program called ADB shell

4. If all of the above instruction fails, there's still hope yet, this is on windows OS. But this instruction requires a little bit of knowledge on DOS command. Download below the adb program.
ADB shell
For Samsung drivers just install kies which can be found on Samsung's website or if you are too lazy to install the program or you got a slow internet connection you can get the latest Samsung drivers HERE.
  • First make a new folder on drive C (the root directory of your computer) and rename it ADB, then download and extract the files above on that folder or if you extracted it somewhere else just copy and paste it inside the folder. Make sure that the files is in ADB folder not on another sub-folder inside  ADB.
  • Your phone should have the usb debugging enabled or else adb will fail reading your phone, so you should turn it on first if it's off, it's under settings>applications>development>usb debugging. Now using micro usb plug in your phone to the computer and wait for the drivers to finish installing.
  • If you are using xp click start>run and type cmd press enter. If you are on vista or win7 click start then on search box  type cmd if it appears on search result right click on it then select run as administrator.
  • A dos-prompt would pop up. Run this commands:
 cd \
cd adb
adb reboot recovery
  • Now your phone will reboot and will enter to recovery.
There you have it, my compiled guides of entering into recovery on Samsung powered by android smartphones.

Simple and easy way to unlock your lumia 710 RM-809/803 bootloader

Overview:
If you are one of those people who got a lumia 710 and wanted to do more on your device like install custom ROMs but  didn't got lucky  because you got a lock bootloader, means you got a DLOAD Nokia recovery instead of qualcomm recovery which is of course an unlock bootloader, don't panic yet. Here's a simple and easy way to convert lock bootloader to an unlock one. The process is converting your Nokia lumia DLOAD recovery (Lock bootloader) into a QUALCOMM recovery (unlock bootloader).

But how to know if you got a lock bootloader?
Follow this simple steps: (Make sure ZUNE program is installed for the right drivers)

  1. Power off your phone or simply remove the battery , don't plug the USB yet.
  2. Hold vol+ (volume up) button and plug the USB to your computer, keep pressing the vol+ wait for the phone to vibrate then release the it. (IF A WINDOWS MESSAGE APPEARES ASKING YOU TO FORMAT THE DISK CLICK NO, OTHERWISE IF YOU HAVE CHOSEN YES THEN YOU JUST BRICKED YOUR DEVICE!)
Note: you'll usually get the format message if you got a qualcomm bootloader.
  3. Now be keen to what appears to the bottom right corner of your computer screen, a new found hardware should pop up saying either Dload or qualcomm or something similar.
  4. In case you miss the installation of you new found hardware just open your device manager and you should be staring at either dload or qualcomm drivers.
  5. If you read QUALCOMM then you got an unlock bootloader in which you do not need to read further down. But if you got a DLOAD then definitely you got a lock bootloader.
WARNING:
You have to check if you got a lumia 710 RM-809/RM-803 with hardware version ending with 2.1 (ex.112.1402.2.1), you can check it by going to settings>about>more info. If you got the right hardware version then proceed further down.

What you need:
ZUNE (Available on Microsoft website this is needed for the right drivers)
NssPro (Download HERE for the latest) Credit goes to bphreaks (Chris) of www.genieprojects.co.uk for this genius tool
Qualcomm bootloader ( Download )

Procedure:
  • First install ZUNE for  the right drivers
  • Download all and extract the required files
*On qualcomm bootloader  that you downloaded you should have the:
RM803_11w48_prod_raw_nokia_osbl.bin
RM803_12w07_prod_generic_nokia_osbl.esco
Copy these two files to the NSS folders \loaders\special\wp7
For example: if you have extracted NSS to C:/NSS, then copy the RM803 files to C:/NSS/loaders/special/wp7
  • Turn on your phone in normal mode
  •  Launch NSS Pro
  •  Plug in the USB cable in NSS Pro go to Flashing -> WP7 Tool (see attached photo)
(On the bottom left you should see a Nokia USB connectivity which means your phone is detected)
  •  Press Install.
  • If you see a warning just click ok

The installation should somehow looks like this:
Enter bootloader mode...Done
Boot version:             240:116:132:78
Sending certificate...Done
Sending file...Done
  • Wait for the process to finish and the phone to boot up.
  • Congratulations! you're DONE. Now you got an unlock bootloader and you can take control of your phone from here...
Note: If you keep on getting an error about phone not found while ticking the install button in NSSPro just try to manually put the phone into OSBL mode: Turn off the phone then press vol up (+) plug-in the USB but keep pressing the vol up button until the phone vibrates then release it.

Reminder:
This tutorial is posted 'as is' and though this is a tested and proven method any problem that may arise due to negligence, misuse or  not doing the instruction right is the sole responsibility of the person using and trying this method. I do not hold any responsibility. You have been warned.

Solving the errror INIT FAILED (mux thread)! on gecko iphone toolkit

If you encountered this error while using gecko iPhone toolkit..

INIT FAILED (mux thread)!
Possible causes:
iTunes 9 or newer is NOT installed.
Could not bind to the port 2202 (make sure only one instance is running!

Most probably your java was updated to the latest version which is not supported by gecko since it doesn't get an update for sometime now from the author..

Simple Solution:

Solve this by downgrading your java to some older version like 6 or older version of 7.

Up to java version version 7 update 4 is supported according to my test higher than that and you'll probably get the error.
